Weekend!

Italian corner
 Hi!

This weekend my brother came up to Gothenburg from Halmstad to visit me! On Friday we ate some nice food and then we watched photos from Uganda! It was a very nice, fun and relaxing evening!
On Saturday we went to a market to buy a universal charger that I wanted to send down to Uganda. I found one and it is now on its way to Uganda!
On Sunday we went to a food fair. There you can walk around and taste a lot of different food and vegetables and also buy some if you want!
All meat and cheeses has to be in a refrigerator. It is not like in Uganda when you can buy meat over a counter when it is not cooled!!
Fruits and vegetables
It is very nice and tasteful. And most of the food is very good! I bought some Italian mozzarella and rice dumplings. That it what the Italians call "antipasti" meaning different kinds of starters.

Then I bought Swedish herring. That you can eat together with an egg for breakfast for example.

And I also bought some fruits. The fruits and vegetables are not at all as good as in Uganda. Here we have to import everything. That means that when it gets here it is not ripe and sweet but very untasteful. Fruits and vegetables tastes soooo much better in Uganda!
Bread
We had a very nice weekend which ended with a Carling Cup victory for Liverpool (see my last post!!)
Until next time!

The game was very thrilling and exciting and after an extension it was time for penalties... I hate that!!! Soooo nervous! But at the end we won!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am soooooo happy! And it was, of course, the best teem that won!

Liverpool-Brighton FA-cup

The flag at my balcony
 Hi!
Yesterday I went down to the pub to watch Liverpool beet the crap out of Brighton, 6-1!!!!!
I usually go down to the pub to watch the Liverpool games together with some other Liverpool fans. Before I leave home I put out my Liverpool flag at the balcony to show all my neighbors that it is a game going on! Then I put on my Liverpool sweater and take my Liverpool doll with me. The Liverpool doll always stands at the table at the pub. If you press the button it starts dancing and singing Liverpool songs!! See the doll below. The pub I go to is called The Queen
The guys at the pub
and it is a pub for Liverpool supporters. For example they have discount on food if you say that you are a supporter! So I had a Liverpool hamburger!
When we go there we are usually around 6-7 people around our table, always the same guys. I am the only woman... I guess women are not so interested in football in Sweden! I met this guys about 5 years ago when I went on my own to the pub to watch a Liverpool game when I couldn't watch it at home because I didn't have the channel. Ever since that it has been the same group, all of us equally crazy about Liverpool!
The Liverpool doll at the table.
One guy have seen Liverpool play live over 80 times!!! I have only seen them play live at Anfield 3 times so far but I will go again and again and again! Another guy has tatooed his whole arm with Liverpool legends and motives!! A true supporter! See right and below!
At the next leg Liverpool will play Stoke at Anfield. I wonder who Arsenal and United will play... Oh that's right they are not in the FA cup any more!!! They have already been kicked out!
Go Liverpool!!!!
Johans tatoo!

My parents house

Hi!

Now I just returned from Halmstad. I spent 4 days at my parents house. That is the house where I grew up. We moved there when I was 6 month old and my parents are still living at the same house! It is always nice to come home and spend some time with the family and beeing taken cared of!!
To the right you can see the house from outside. This is an ordinary swedish villa. The house is in a neighborhood with four streets with similary houses (you can see another in the background). In front of the house is my parents car (the silver wolkswagen passat) and my car (the red wolkswagen golf) parked.

Fun in the snow!

Yesterday I had a fantastic day with my nieces! We were out playing in the snow! If you are dressed right you can have so much fun during winter in Sweden. Skiing, skating, sliding, building snowmen and snow houses. Have snow fights or just walk around and enjoy it!

They are so beautiful my nieces! I just had to take many photos of them!

In the evning I went with Wilma to her football training. She was dressed in a Liverpool t-shirt with our family name "Bergkvist" at the back and Liverpool shorts!! Her aunt (me) was very proud! She was the most beautiful girl of them all!

Holiday!

Hi!

My beautiful nieces Ella and Wilma at my apartment!

The 7th week every year we have one week holiday from the schools in Gothenburg for winter sport activities. The week is different according to were you live in the country. For example in Halmstad the students are free the 8th week instead. On Friday my nieces came to Gothenburg from Halmstad to go to a concert and to visit me! They came with the train together with there mother. I drove them down town to the concert and then I picked them up again after. They stayed the night at my apartment in the Liverpool room and I got to spend some time with them!! That was great!! I missed them very much when I was in Uganda.

Cold!!!!

Halmstad castle and Najaden (school ship)
On Saturday it was very cold outside, we had -9,4 degrees celcius!!! We all got in to my car and then we drove down to Halmstad. Halmstad is 130 km south of Gothenburg. We went to my parents house (the house were I grew up) to have lunch and to watch Man United - Liverpool. Not so happy about the result though but you can't win every game...
As I'm on holiday I will stay a couple of days in Halmstad and spend some time with my family.

Yesterday it was very nice weather even though it was cold. I put on my winter cloths and I went for a walk together with a friend along the river Nissan. We walked passed Halmstad castle and the school ship Najaden on our way out to the ocean. The river was only partly frozen but the ocean was frozen! The kids were skating and playing ice hockey, they had a lot of fun!
After the walk of almost 2 hours we went in for some hot tea.

Now I have to go and pick up my nieces from the school. We are probably going out to play in the snow! Lovely!!
The ocean is frozen....

Swedish living

Hello!

Today I want to talk about ordinary life in Sweden.
Bathroom
I live in a 3 room apartment. I do not own the apartment, I just rent it. That is quite common. In my last post you saw my living room. Here I'm going to show the rest of it.  When you say a 3 room apartment you mean that you have three rooms but you also have a bathroom and a kitchen in the apartment. To the right you can see my bathroom.  I really enjoy to take a long hot bath in the bathtub! Especially when you come home and it is freezing cold outside like it is now in Sweden!

In the kitchen I cook my meals. On the weekdays I eat lunch in school so I only eat breakfast at home before I go to work and then something small when I get home from work and the gym.
Kitchen

But on the weekends I like to cook! Either just for myself or for guest if I have any. In Sweden we use electric stoves. You put the pot on the cooking plate and you turn the knob at the front. There is one knob for each cooking plate. You can adjust the heat on the plate so that you get the heat that you want. There is usually four cooking plates on a stove, that means that you can cook four different things at the same time. For example boil rice on one, fry meat on another and then make a sauce on a third.
Under the cooking plates is the oven. In the oven you can bake bread or roast a steak or grill some chicken. The two knobs to the left is for the oven. One is to turn it on and to adjust how you want the heat, from above or from below or from both above and below. You can also use the grill. The second knob adjusts the heat. For example 220 degrees.
Liverpool room!/guest room

Bedroom
If I have guests they can sleep over at my guest room. In here it is all red and Liverpool things everywhere!! I call it my Liverpool room! So if you are coming to visit you better be a Liverpool supporter otherwise you will probably feel sick!

I always sleep with the window open, even when it is below zero outside!! So during the winter you have to have a thick down cover to sleep under so that you can keep warm! One morning, when I had my bed just under the window, I woke up and I was covered in snow!! It had been snowing in trough the open window during the night!! After that I moved the bed away from the window!
That is all for this time!

Home!

The sea outside Halmstad!

Hi!

After four fantastic month in Uganda I'm now back in Sweden! The 5th of January I came to Halmstad (that is the town where I grew up and where my family still lives). Even though I miss Uganda it was nice to come home and meet my family and friends! The first thing I did was drive my car to the sea. I have really missed the sea! I think that if you grew up by the sea you will always have a longing to go there. It is so beautiful!
View from my apartment. Snow!

After I spent a few days in Halmstad with my family and friends I drove up to Gothenburg and my apartment. It was really nice to come back to my apartment! I have had it subletted while I was gone so I had to start with cleaning it... It took a while... But afterwards it looked very nice again!

When I got back to Sweden there was no snow even though it is January and winter. But after a few days the snow came and it is still here. The last few days it has been really cold also. Today it was 14 degrees below zero!!!!!! Oh, I miss Uganda!!! On Monday the 9th I started school again. More about that next time!
